A day in the life of a congress critter!

In the article "Matt Taibbi Uncensored: Finance Nothing More Than A 'Street S**m'", Matt has some interesting comments on the financial acumen of our political leaders.

If you have ever wondered why our House of Representatives are unable to fulfill their responsibility to approve and deliver 12 separate regular appropriation bills at the start of each fiscal year (Congress has enacted one or more CRs in all but three of the 47 fiscal years since the start of the fiscal year was changed to October 1 beginning in FY1977), or why both the House and Senate v**e on legislation without learning all the details of the legislation, consider Tiabbi's comments below"

"From there we talked about how inept and generally lobotomized and useless most of Congress is, especially when it comes to matters of finance. Matt agreed, stating: “Most of the members, if you've ever been around a member of Congress or a senator, their schedules are so crazy that even if they had the intellectual capacity or the interests in the topic, they wouldn't have time to delve into most of the legislation that they're v****g on. The way the Congress works, half the time when they get a bill it's 10 hours after it's out of the rules committee and nobody knows what's in it and they're v****g on it, you know, those.

“So most of what they do, as you say, it's a public relations thing where the whole goal of the day is to get 30 seconds of video that they can use for a fundraising campaign on an email. And they do that by having the member read something off a script that was written by somebody on wh**ever committee or even a communications person. And nine times out of ten, that person doesn't really know anything about the issue or has predetermined what they're going to say based on some other political consideration that has nothing to do with it. It was really frustrating during the Dodd-Frank Act because one of the unreported stories of that whole thing was that there were only like four or five members in the entire Congress who had anybody in their shops who knew anything about, for instance, clearing."

Exactly why we are in the financial mess we are in. Where’s congress’s fiduciary duty to the citizens? They are worthless.

There were so many bureaucratic/back-stabbing, policies (from local to federal) exposed by C***d, that hoping the American citizen will just go back to ignorantly believing what they're told is ridiculous. It illustrates the stark difference between ignorance..."I didn't know any better, but I learned, and now I do", to stupidity, "I didn't know any better, no one is going to tell me anything, I'm going to do as I please". How many Congress-critters are ignorant/stupid, now that's a question. When you cannot be bothered to read what you foist on the American people as law...you may be past ignorant/stupid...you may be evil. There are plenty of really good/valid reasons that Americans' opinion of Congress, (and their t*****rous activities) is, that it is lower than dirt. And Congress has EARNED that opinion.

I fully agree, if you think there is C***d, you're simply feeding into their fear porn.
