There are several who regularly post on this site. They are not attempting to present any rational, thought-provoking ideas to defend their positions. They post to incite and agitate.
What is the best approach to dealing with these trolls?

My thoughts are:
1.) Ignore them completely. They want attention and when they do not get the desired result, they will wither and
die on the vine.
2.) If we feel it necessary to respond, do not try to present facts. Do not confuse them with facts, their mind is
made up! You will never convince them of the t***h, and it will not matter anyway because their goal is to
agitate not to present a differing well thought out discussion. They are not capable of reasoning.
3.) If we must respond, let's use short concise responses. Some good ones could be liar, troll, bless your heart, etc.

Do you understand what the difference between a republic and a democracy is? More precisely, do you understand that they are not mutually exclusive, that most democracies are republics at the same time? And that one of those countries is the US?

Republic basically only means “not a monarchy”. Do you have a monarch? No? Good, you’re living in a republic. Democracy basically only means that the people have the authority to decide legislation, be that direct or indirect. Now, who makes your laws? Your Senators, your Representatives, which the people elect. So you indirectly decide legislation. Good, you are living in a democracy.

Full democracies however are also expected to adhere to a few other principles, e.g. the free and equal v**e. Free means that everybody gets the same opportunity to v**e, i.e. no v**er suppression. Equal means that all v**es have the same weight, i.e. no EC as it is today. That’s why the US is considered a flawed democracy.

But you are a Republican. You benefit from the flaws and you know it. Therefore you pretend that the flaws are good and you don’t just cling to them because it gives you an unfair advantage. We all can clearly see that, there is no sense to be trying to hide it. So please spare us the “We are not a democracy.” nonsense. We don’t buy it.

Section 1 of Article 3 of the Constitution says:

The judicial Power of the United States, shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behavior, and shall, at stated Times, receive for their Services a Compensation which shall not be diminished during their Continuance in Office.

This means that the justices hold office as long as they choose and can only be removed from office by impeachment. The only Justice to be impeached was back in 1805, when Associate Justice Samuel Chase—who was appointed by President George Washington—was accused of allowing his political views to interfere with his decisions and “tending to prostitute” the court and his position. (You can read the riveting account on the U.S. Senate’s website.) The House of Representatives passed Articles of Impeachment against him, but he was acquitted by the Senate.

Look, I'm all for vigerious debate. Whether you are a Biden supporter or a Trump supporter. We need the debate as a free society.

But why can't administration enforce the Harvard rules of debate?

When you insult the subject matter that's okay, but k*****g the messenger is not okay.

For 67 pages, about 10 years ago, I was in an intense debate that became personal. This was unacceptable and both me and the debater were warned by administration at our retorich.

When news came out about the thread long gone, many of my conservative friends at the time fought with greater insult against my opponent. When insult enters into debate the debate is over. I was upset justifiably at my opponents insults, but my anger got worse when my allies insulted my opponent.

Insults do not do what a debate does. Debates increase wisdom and we become better people. Insults destroy us, and we become enemies.

My only advice to you and everyone is stick to the subject matter at hand. TDS is just as bad as BDS(Biden Derangement syndrome)
