A little question about a little step in the remedy of a very large problem....

So many twists in every issue of the day.. f****l f**ls.. yes.. but what about plastic.. to me it seems the mountain of plastic we use will be much harder to deal with than the fuel we now get from fossil energy..

Each day the reports say 2000 truck loads of used plastic makes its way to the oceans of our world. Yet plastic has so many uses an does such a fine job of dealing with those uses and is ever growing in use around the world..

Single use items lead the way for this problem.

But have no fear, our experts have been working on the these many problems and for the first time I recall and step forward has been made.. a small one yes.. but any step is a step ahead..

The soft drink industry made a huge and well advertised change a few days ago..

We now can recycle both the plastic bottle and the CAP together,, not more must we remove the cap and the little ring that holds it on the bottle... all of the bottle, cap and ring can now be recycled together.. so nice to find progress being made.. and while we may whine about the time line.. several decades to make this possible seems a bit sluggish.. but progress counts and we should rejoice in progress when we find some..

Yippee Ki Ye yea...

So share with me your thoughts and future actions with this long awaited and important advance to our plastic problem.. I give it a full 10 on the chart of goodness..

Had the US not, as usual, relied on China, we would not find ourselves in this situation. For decades, we shipped all our plastic trash to China. When they ceased needing, or taking it, the US had made no effort to find a way to handle disposal/recycling in mass quantities.

Innovation, thy word is not in the US vocabulary.

You are correct about what we used to do with plastic waste, but that ended some time ago.. I see this little change as a step, small though it is, as a move in the direction for more recycling and a cleaner environment. If you are offended by living in the USA.. feel free to move... NK is accepting nearly anyone who wishes to move in..

As for the problem.. other steps have been and are being worked on to handle the long time problem.. Yes, it does seem we always are behind and never anticipate the always new problems which come along with new development..

Recycling is not new. Soda pop used to come in glass bottles which cost a 2 cent deposit. The big bottles were a 5 cent deposit. I used to collect 5 soda pop bottles from along side of the road and trade them in for a dime and used the dime to buy a comic book. One of my buddy's save his returns until the had 50 cents, the cost a box of .22 ammo.
My thoughts on plastic is that it is a bane on society.
